BRIGHTspot Partners (BSP) is a Non-Profit Corporation (501c3) established in 2016 when the money ran out on the last “Once-in-a-Generation” set of funding put in place to respond to the Great Recession, otherwise known as the Global Financial Crisis.
When the money ran out, the Federal Government’s approach was to encourage people to form “Public-Private-Partnerships” to find ways to connect unserved and underserved communities.
We were already working on this problem for the Governor of North Carolina, in a state that surprisingly has the second largest rural population in the country — the result of being both a large, and populous, state. In the words of many that worked with us, the goal was “to connect the last house on the last dirt road” in a state that is both heavily agricultural and mountainous.
BSP was created to be the partner that could step in to help connect the dots. That is our only purpose.
